zkSync Mainnet: Baby Alpha Launch
Launch of an Ethereum layer-2 scaling blockchain network.
There is no start time for this event, only that it is on Oct. 28. This time is a placeholder.
DETAILS
- Launch Details
- zkSync, currently running on a testnet since February 2022, will be launching its mainnet
- The mainnet launch is broken down into 3 different stages;
- Baby Alpha stage (this launch, and lasts about 1 month) – open only to zkSync team to deploy contracts and stress test
- Fair Launch Alpha (Q4 2022) – open to developers to deploy contracts, but no external users
- Full Alpha (End of the year 2022) – open publicly to users
- zkSync will have a native token, but the token is not expected to launch during this stage, and there is no information yet on the tokenomics or when the token will launch
- Features
- ZkSync is a layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution using zero-knowledge (zk) rollup proof technology to offer faster and cheaper transactions (up to 10x to 20x), with the same level of security as layer-1 Ethereum
- Developers will be able to build and deploy smart contracts to zkSync using Zinc or Solidity (via its zkEVM (Zero Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine)
- Summary of zkSync features;
- Mainnet-level security with zero reliance on 3rd parties
- ETH and ERC20 tokens support
- transaction with instant confirmations and 10-minute finality on layer-1
- ability to pay transaction fees with tokens besides ETH
- low transaction fees (~1/100th of mainnet costs for ERC20 tokens and ~1/30th for ETH transfers)
- withdrawals to mainnet in ~10 minutes
- zkSync ecosystem already has hundreds of dApps ready to be deployed on the mainnet
- Users can send deposit/withdraw funds from layer-1 testnet (Goerli) to zkSync via the native bridge, and participate on the testnet. List of available testnet dApps can be found here
